I started reading some romance comics and I’m generating my own opinions on how to do romance well in comics. It’s easier said than done! Let me know if you have any thoughts about what I did here. There was some build up in earlier chapters, and now this. Did you want Petunia and Nick to get together? Were you surprised by what he did here? Do you still want them to get together? Do you think Petunia is ready for a serious relationship?

I observed the weirdest first date at a cafe the other day. It really made me wish I was still doing the chapter where Petunia was going on all kinds of dates. Sometimes real life can feel so perfectly (and awkwardly) scripted.

P.S. Happy Valentine’s Day!

What do you do when a guy says he wants to have a “ghost night” with you?

I was wondering if anyone recognized this character in the last page. Nobody said anything to me about it, so I guess not. It’s Jack from Chapter 4!

New Design + Logo

I know I switched up my web design recently, but I wasn’t really happy with it and I had a great excuse to change it again: A NEW LOGO. Check it out!

New Paranormal Petunia Logo

This is custom typography design by my friend and designer Kate Lalime. You won’t see this font anywhere else, it’s Petunia specific ūüôā I am super happy with it.¬†If you need any type projects done, Kate is¬†the one for you!

I’m planning on making some shirts with the new logo on it, so hopefully there is some interest in that!

Thanks for reading and supporting the comic. I really appreciate it!

I’m spending a weekend at a cabin with some friends in the Berkshires. I’m really hoping I don’t get eaten by a bear or zombies. Keep us in your thoughts.

Not really what I do…

Hi guys! I’m back from my self-inflicted winter break and I have to say I’m pretty glad to be drawing Paranormal Petunia again. While I was away I finished the first printed issue of Paranormal Petunia, which will be available very soon. So I’m very excited about that!

I’m also going to try posting Petunia two times a week. Maybe Tuesday and Saturday? Does that sound okay? I would start doing that next week if I can keep up with the drawing and my other projects. I’m a busy dude! Anyway, I was inspired by my good friend and artist/author, Pat Nietupski (AKA Floyd Fox), who does the new fantasy/adventure¬†comic Legends of Fomora and the tried and true geeky jokester comic Unnatural 20. We were hanging out last night looking through each others Magic the Gathering cards and he was talking about how excited he is about drawing and posting comics. It was super inspiring and has rekindled some of my love of this stuff. It’s easy to just feel like you HAVE to post this stuff and forget that you’re doing it because you love it. And I do love it! I can’t wait to show you what happens to Petunia.

On that subject, I also took this winter break to take some time and think about where this story is going. I had a lot of plans for it already, but I really wanted to know how the story would end (more or less) and also think about Petunia as a character. I am happy to say I now have a TON of new plot points and have pretty much figured out the whole thing.

I’d like to say that Paranormal Petunia is going to quickly become a lot more intense soon. I feel like the first section of the story was fairly¬†low-key. I was trying to introduce the setting and characters without rushing into the heavy stuff. Rest assured, you can plan on seeing some serious paranormal stuff happening very soon. There will be emotions, darker themes, and a lot more.

About this page… this is not just a goof. This will be going somewhere. A cheating boyfriend? Petunia isn’t a relationship counselor… This client knows that right? Also, Yerba. Petunia doesn’t like Yerba.¬†It was nice anyway, Sara.

Let me know if you have any thoughts about the story. I’d love to hear what you think.
